The walks along the beach after classes I will miss most in Scotland
Thursday, the 17th of August 2023
Yesterday I spent navigating my new neighbourhood. Exploring the grocery stores, the parks, how far along the river I could walk. After finishing up a video essay, a storm lingered over the city. In my little apartment in the attic I heard it rumbling and watched the rain fall. Before sunset, the sun came out again and I took one last evening stroll.
Things on my mind
The new semester has not yet started, but I have already lost count of the coffees. I’m looking forward to uni, I’ll be taking philosophy, french and psych statistics modules ☕️
that one nat geo documentary about the lioness who lost her cub and then, thru her grief, adopted a gazelle but she didn’t know how to care for them and she kept trying to feed them meat. there’s something there but i can’t reach it.
every morning i wake up & get my coffee & i recite in my head this excerpt from ‘invitation,’ by mary oliver: “it is a serious thing just to be alive on this fresh morning in the broken world.” & i just say it over & over again until it sticks to my mind for the rest of the day. it is a serious thing. i am alive. i am so lucky. this fresh morning i get the chance to live again & again & again
